8 Clever ways to deter intruders from your home, while on holidays.

Don’t have CCTV? Here are 8 ways you can deter intruders.

1. Install automatic garden lighting on a timer

Garden lighting is an effective deterrent for a burglar entering your property. There are some great cost effective products on the market right now, that you can purchase from Bunnings. Or contact your local Electrician who can provide you with a more personalised approach.

2. Install motion detection security lights

Surprise or startle the intruders with a motion detection light. These are also cost effective options and can be purchased through your local electrician or Bunnings warehouse.

3. Leave the radio on or a lamp with a timer on

Pretend someone is at home by installing a timer on a lamp, radio or TV.

4. Stick a 'warning video surveillance in operation ' sticker on your front window

By sticking a ‘warning video surveillance in operation’ sticker on your front window, intruders may think twice upon entering your property. If this is something you would like, please drop us an email and we will happily send out a free window sticker. Email sales@connect2electrical.com.au.

5. Ask a neighbour to collect your mail

A simple and obvious tip, however sometimes over looked.

6. Remove any bushes or shrubs near entrances

Homes with large bushes or over grown trees around the house, provide a great enticement for intruders, as they can sneak behind and not be seen by passers by. Prune your bushes and trees before you head off on long trips.

7. Keep your valuables hidden out of view

Another simple but often over looked tip. Have a think about what is in direct view from your front and back door. Keep valuable out of sight - put laptops and computers in cupboards, hide car keys and handbags.

8. Hang a few items of washing on the line

Hanging washing on the line before you leave, combined with some of the other tips mentioned above will really trick your intruders into thinking someone is home.

We hope this has provided some handy tips and tricks or sparked some ideas on how you can deter intruders from your home.
